And here are my notes on the Andorra Eco Evening meet up on the 11th of March 2025 in the Hotel Roc Blanc:

  • It was refreshing to hear that there are many ideas that are already in motion to a certain extent here in Andorra, and therefore like minded people.

  • The idea of “Vida Conscient” was mentioned, an initiative to create a community garden or helping older people with their gardens at the same time as providing social interaction with them. This initiative apparently needs more volunteers, so maybe it is something we could combine with the Andorra Eco idea mentioned yesterday, or collaborate in some way, such as knowledge, plant and seed sharing?

  • There is a telegram group called “Qui te qui vol” where people can post items that they are wanting to give away or items that they require. No cash is exchanged, these are completely free exchanges.

  • There is an initiative to create a regular meet up of people who want to play board games or other activities such as knitting, etc in a shared space where people can come together and enjoy each others company.

Here are the items that were discussed at the Andorra Eco Morning meet up on the 10th of March 2025 in the Hotel Coma:

  • Creating a Gardening Group - ideas were shared as to where this could take place and who would coordinate it.

  • Ideas of how to not be so connected to our mobile devices albeit them also being useful to spread the word.

  • How we could share eco tips that each one of us do, and in this way help others be more sustainable.

Yesterday a few of us from the Andorra Eco Whatsapp group met up for coffee and to chat about all sorts of Eco stuff. Here are some of the highlights from the meeting:

  • A few years ago it was published that Ordino Arcalis was producing more hydro electricity than it consumed. We plan to look into this here at Andorra Eco headquarters and so hopefully we'll have more information on that soon.

  • There are apparently some developments that are in construction here in Andorra which consist of micro units, with common areas instead of larger apartments. We shall also delve deeper into this.

  • The issue of how to re-sell kids ski equipment was raised, which apparently right now is not that easy, and we discussed some ideas and will continue to do so at the next meeting.

  • We learnt that the EU has much stricter regulations when it comes to Eco labelling in comparison to the United States, which is why not many American brands can be found here in Europe, as it would require rebranding. And also, it is why some European brands that strive to be as Eco as possible, are wary of stating it on their packaging, as the rules are so strict.

  • The issue of fixing and mending products instead of throwing away and buying new was also raised, and we spoke about how it would be great if Andorra could follow the examples of other countries in this respect. ( I shall share a reliable source for this in my next blog post)

  • We were saddened to hear that a lot of children are suffering from climate anxiety, and so we discussed that it would be great if we could think of initiatives, that could be offered as part of the International Baccalaureate "Creativity, Activity, Service" programme, for example.

These are just a few of the amazing topics spoken about and we look forward to discussing further how we can help in any way we can.
